On 9-10 February 2026, the STRIKE consortium gathered in Segovia for its 6th Progress Meeting, hosted by Nanotech Solutions SL. The meeting was held at the Hotel San Antonio el Real, providing the setting for two days of scientific exchange and strategic discussions as the project enters its final year.
Following the successful format of the previous meeting, the programme focused on progress reports and discussions across the three core research pillars of the STRIKE project:
- Magnetic nanomaterials for drug delivery in osteosarcoma therapy
- Metals for theranostic and imaging purposes
- Magnetic beads for liquid biopsy
Early-stage researchers presented the most recent results and discussed remaining challenges that need to be addressed to ensure the successful completion of the project.
Given STRIKE’s focus on the use of magnetic nanomaterials to target malignant tumours, early-stage researchers also participated in a specialised training event following the main meeting. From 11-13 February, the International Workshop on Dynamical Magnetisation Phenomena in Nanomaterials: From Magnetic Losses to Particle Imaging brought together experts and young researchers for three days of focused discussion and exploration of advanced concepts in the field. The programme combined lectures with hands-on sessions covering magnetic imaging techniques, hyperthermia mechanisms, sensing applications and the fundamental physics of magnetisation dynamics, creating an environment in which theory and practice complemented one another. Overall, the workshop provided participants with a deeper understanding of the behaviour and potential of magnetic nanoparticles in biomedical applications.
