Next June, the STRIKE early-stage researchers (ESRs) will participate in the Summer School "Magnetic Nanocarriers - Synthesis, Functionalization, and Biomedical Applications" hosted by Palacký University, Olomouc.

Here, the ESRs will learn about the synthesis and applications of magnetic nanomaterials/nanostructures, carbon-based nanomaterials and their derivatives. Characterisation of such materials will also be a focus of this session - with methods such as microscopy (TEM/SEM/AFM) and molecular spectroscopy (Raman/SERS/TERS/CARS) being covered. The translational nature of this field will also be considered, with a further emphasis being placed on the biomedical applications of these materials and how toxicology is an important consideration during their development.

To further build upon this learning opportunity the ESRs will be able to observe some of these techniques during a half-day visit to the Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine.

Keep an eye out for more updates!
