Early-Stage Researcher at the National Research Council of Italy - Institute of Science, Technology and Sustainability for Ceramics (CNR-ISSMC) under the supervision of Prof. Monica Montesi.

I am Mohamed Saqawa, 24 years old, from Egypt, and I will pursue a PhD in Applied Biology and Experimental Medicine at the University of Messina under the supervision of Prof. Maria Teresa Sciortino. My master’s degree is in Biopharmaceutical Material Science within the BIOPHAM Erasmus Mundus master's program. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Nanoscience with a specialization in nanomedicine. Both my MSc and BSc degrees are marked by a diverse and interdisciplinary selection of courses that encompass the medical applications of materials science and drug development, particularly in the fields of tissue engineering, drug delivery, and tumor modeling. I have also had the opportunity to explore other areas such as molecular simulation and machine learning, which have broadened my understanding of these fields.

My PhD project will focus on the development of in-vitro 2D and 3D models for osteosarcoma to biologically evaluate magnetic nanoparticles. One of the main reasons I am drawn to this position is my strong belief in the tremendous potential of tumor engineering field and its ability to revolutionize the drug development process in a more efficient manner.
